This spot was definitely worth the wait! I've had it on a bucket list for quite some time and finally got a chance to visit this morning. Now I want to tell everyone!
For starters, the staff was very friendly and eager to answer any questions as we explored the menu. We opted for an array of dishes so that we could sample as much as possible. The meal kicked off with complementary potato bread with a parsley and dill dipping sauce. We followed that by chicken, pelmeni dumplings, the Ukrainian national clay pot dish filled with potatoes, carrots, and pork and topped with a fresh bread, cabbage salad, the appetizer Pickle assortment, and, of course, borscht. All were fabulous, and a great balance between hearty dishes and refreshing vegetables. It was hard to pick a favorite dish because they all complemented one another so well. The space is also super cute inside with floral decor in lots of sunshine. Next time, I will have to order the honey cake dessert. It's hard to come by so I was excited to see it on the menu.
What a treasure to have this Ukrainian eatery located not too far from Indianapolis. I'm not sure if there are any other located within the state of Indiana? Regardless, don't sleep on this wonderful restaurant.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Bobby K.Indianapolis, IN23142May 12, 2024
Unique and very tasty dining experience. Dumplings - dough stuffed with various goodies like potatoes, chicken, pork -- were very tasty. Stroganoff was delightful. Clay pot soup with bread for a lid was tasty. Service very friendly. Apple cake and chocolate crepes for dessert. Never had Ukrainian food previously but our group of six all loved it.

Just went back today for lunch. Was delighted to see tilapia (and veggies) on the menu and ordered mushroom buckwheat as the side (never have had buckwheat as a side dish). I'll admit it is a very mildly flavored grain, but the dish was beautiful and the fish WONDERFULLY seasoned. My wife had the stew in a pot -- she had divided it in two three meals by bringing her leftovers home. Another wonderful experience!!

Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a lovely review! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your experience at our restaurant.
Jul 1, 2023Previous reviewWas back today and delighted to try some new items. First out was warm bread and a vegetable / herb dip for it. The bread was wonderfully hot and and had what appeared to be mashed potato inside. Then we ordered a new menu special---pork in a clay pot. (That's the way it read on their whiteboard menu on the wall.) It's actually a stew in a large ceramic mug with bread baked over the top. It will remind you of a grandma's pot pie at first loom. It's served with pickled peppers and mushrooms, which were delightful and not at all heavily "pickled". The bread lifted off the mug, and was just wonderful to eat along with the stew. it was also more than enough to satisfy the two of us when we ordered a small cup of the borscht soup. So glad that Olesya's is doing well even though she had to pass it onto one of her friends due to health reasons. We hope with them being between two other restaurants, they'll continue to have steady clientele so that their business will continue to do well! Please come, give them a try!
Aug 13, 2019Previous reviewYou have to be open to going to a private diner. She fixes the food by herself. We had chicken stroganoff (one order on rice and one on potatoes with THREE deserts: drunken plum cake, honey cake, and oreshki (Ulkranian pastry nuts). Will definitely be back to try other items. She also stated her husband will deliver if you can't get away for your lunch break.
Was back on Aug 13 and had the pork loin over cabbage salad. It is her "keto diet" entree today, but I added sone BBQ sauce to kick it up a bit.Jul 23, 2019Previous reviewYou have to be open to going to a private diner. She fixes the food by herself. So tasty! I was in Columbus for work and checked Yelp for restaurants in the area. Amidst all the boring chains and American fare, I saw this Ukrainian place so I decided to try it. I'm so glad I did! I had the borscht (no picture), cabbage rolls, and chicken stroganoff. I ate half of each and saved the rest for another day. I will definitely go back.

This was my first Ukrainian food experience and it definitely won't be my last. When we went, we were the only people at the restaurant and Olesya took such good care of us. She's really sweet and happily gave us recommendations.
Every single thing we ordered was phenomenal: cabbage salad, pork meat balls, borsh, chicken stroganoff, cherry puff. I was blown away by how much flavor was packed into each dish. Everything was so comforting, so heartwarming. I would love to visit in the winter when I need some comfort food but really the food is unbeatable year-round.
If you've never been here, you need to go ASAP! And if you've never had Ukrainian food, there's no better place to try it for the first time than Olesya's Kitchen!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - Laurette R.Martinsville, IN687640Mar 30, 2024
I have ate here a few times. I have been really impressed every single time. The food is so unbelievably tasty and delicious. The owner is so very nice and has a great wait staff. The ambiance is so quaint. It is decorated with a floral motif on the walls. I am so grateful the this restaurant is open for dinner now. Every item is carefully prepared and tasted like home cooking- love it every time. I have had cabbage rolls, the Clay Pot, the savory crepes, blueberry scone, and the pierogies. Had the pork and the mushroom ones. The mushroom ones are filled with so much flavor!!

We stopped into Olesya's on a Saturday for lunch. The woman didn't speak English well but she welcomed us warmly and took our order. We are not familiar with Ukrainian food so we ordered a popular chicken dish and something that reminded me of dumplings. How can steamed dough go wrong?
The food was hands down delicious. The starter salad of dill, shaved cabbage, cucumber and pepper was a great way to wake up my tastebuds. The Peirogis had cabbage inside that was flavorful and had a good crunch. My husbands chicken and mushroom dish was flavorful without relying on too much salt. Also, if you are looking for homemade mashed potatoes, this is the spot. Fluffy, buttery, smooth.
Parking is shared with another great local place and there are designated spots out front for Olesya's. It's a casual space but the food is top notch quality. The decor feels authentic and warm.
Don't miss this local treasure!Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jennifer F.Syracuse, NY65341May 2, 2024
Service was hands on with a smile. We ordered cabbage rolls, clay pot, and beef and buckwheat and shared all of it. WONDERFUL food!! I liked the small mom and pop feel of the place. There are about 6-8 tables, and we learned they make catering trays.

The bread serviced before lunch is really good. The source with the bread makes it tasted so well.
