What time does school start?

Teachers will be in their first period classrooms, ready to receive students, beginning at 7:15. The first bell rings at 7:40.

What Level are we using, according to the plan document?

Level 1, Plan B, according to our visual overview. Levels of the plan do not correspond to the phases of the Governor's plan.

Will students have mask breaks?

We realize that the current mask mandate has some families concerned about comfort and their children’s ability to comply for an entire school day. We are blessed with a large, spacious campus with spaces suitable for outdoor learning. Teachers have the flexibility to schedule mask breaks throughout the day while still maintaining distancing outside in compliance with health mandates

Will students have access to microwaves to heat lunches brought from home?

Unfortunately, because of COVID restrictions, we cannot offer access to shared microwaves at this time. If students would like a hot lunch, we recommend they order from the cafeteria or use a thermos. There will be no microwaves or refrigerators provided for student lunches.

Where is the daytime entrance?

To assist in maintaining a closed campus and meeting distancing requirements, we have created a new daytime entrance, located in the school’s Administration Building at the Admiral Doyle at Bank Street light. This change will also assist with consistently enforcing one-way traffic in the drive in front of the gym, for the safety of all students and visitors.

Car and bus lines will work in the same way as always. However, beginning at 8:00am and lasting until dismissal, all three gates on de La Salle Drive will be closed and locked along with the bus loop entrance gate. All student check-outs and check-ins will be conducted through the new daytime entrance, including tardy students who arrive after gates have been closed.

What will normal school day procedures look like?

We have provided an interactive diagram for arrivals and departures here: http://b.link/carline

7:15 - 7:45 AM - Arrive on campus - Temperature Check and Visual Daily Health Screen

Contactless temperature scans will be conducted upon arrival to campus. Students must put on their masks at this time. Those with a temperature above the threshold will be sent home.

Car Riders: Temperature scan will be conducted upon arrival, before the student exits the vehicle.

Drop-offs - The car line entrance is located on the elementary side of campus, on DeLaSalle Drive. All student drop-offs will occur in front of the Disch gym.

Student Drivers - Only student drivers will use the middle entrance on DeLaSalle Drive.

Bus Riders:  Temperature scans will be conducted as students exit the bus.

Walkers:  Temperature scans will be conducted in the high school office.

Once students exit the vehicle, they may go to their locker (grades 6-12) then walk directly to their first period classroom while maintaining six feet distancing.

7:50 AM -  Because of the size of and spacing within our classrooms, students will be spaced six feet apart, and they will be wearing masks, preventing direct contact.

Class changes - Students will change classes using outside doors as much as possible, and they will only be able to go to their lockers at designated times by grade level.

Locker times - All grade levels will have designated locker times. Lockers are assigned so that students in the same grade level will not be immediately next to each other.

Restroom usage - Restrooms will have proctors with whom students must check in to limit numbers in those areas.

Lunch - A daily lunch order form must be completed online prior to the start of the school day. Students will remain in the classrooms, under the supervision of their teachers, during lunch. Lunches will be delivered to classrooms. When we are blessed with good weather, teachers will take the students outside and allow them to have lunch in a more casual environment, while seated and maintaining distancing within their designated group.

Dismissal will be staggered for safety and to prevent close contact among students.

2:50 PM - All high school students will be dismissed.  This will allow our student drivers to exit safely before the carline begins.

2:53 PM - All bus riders and walkers will be dismissed. Please remember that all walkers must have a written note sent to the office giving permission for a child to walk off of campus without an adult. Any student in grades 4-5 must also be accompanied by an older student.

2:55 PM - Carline riders will be dismissed in an orderly fashion to maintain static groups and prevent close contact as much as possible.  We thank you in advance for following procedures and for your patience and cooperation.
